Diseases of the nervous system
Livestock can be affected by various neurological diseases. Alike all diseases, the prompt and accurate diagnosis of individual cases of neurological disease is important for the welfare of the animal and in order to prevent subsequent cases.
Work at Moredun has mainly focused on Scrapie and Louping Ill. In addition to the research carried out to increase our understanding of these diseases, Moredun’s Pathology Unit is involved in neuropathological investigations and provides a consultancy service for SAC.
